To Jennifer

A baby girl was born today,
Upon a hill above the bay,

Where seagull’s wings have touched the air,
That kiss her cheeks and brush her hair.

Ocean spray know not her skin,
Though full acquainted with her kin.

But time will lead her by the hand,
From grassy hills to dampened sand.

And while she stands upon the shore,
Listening to the mighty roar,

No one need say to she,
“I’ll make the introductory.”

For Mother Sea will know her well,
More than any words can tell,

And with her salty wind she’ll say,
“Behold, a queen has come to stay”.
